Great gym with an excellent central location! The facilities are clean, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Today, I brought a friend who’s new to fitness, and I was simply sharing my routine, showing her some exercises, and giving a few tips. During this, I noticed uncomfortable looks from the personal trainers. As I was leaving, a staff member approached me, claiming I wasn’t allowed to “train” my friend and that I should “help more discreetly” in the future. While it was almost flattering to be mistaken for a professional trainer (I’m just a regular gym-goer sharing a Reddit-inspired routine!), it felt unnecessarily hostile to be warned for helping a friend. If you’re looking for a welcoming environment where you can enjoy working out with friends, stay away from this place.[/su_testimonial][su_testimonial name="Tascha Fröbrich" photo="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjV_qF2C5OzhA-Cy7Ikt3DPZBAcwgmqjfVYECNO3raE-s11yGns=s120-c-rp-mo-br100"]This gym is AMAZING!The gym is super clean and you‘re able to workout barefoot which is my favourite thing ever! Edit after comment of the gym :
Hi guys, I can without problem explain the 1 star rating after your post – it’s only fair that you give your opinion after your customers share what’s not working in your gym and maybe it will help you to improve in the future (I really want to help, let me know if you need more info, if you want to meet, ect)
2 things are in my eyes at the fire of the problem here
1) your USC policy. I understand that you prefer to make the life of USC Users difficult to privilege the people who train without USC – its more money for you and less people on the matt – but it might be then better to not offer USC at all since it gets super inconvenient to train with you guys for the USC people and your reputation suffers from it. Your other memberships seem to be way more in adequation with the market although it’s still quite expensive as well. Rather no service at all than an automatically disasrifying one.
2) I don’t know the old man who was the trainer that day and I have nothing against him but, whoever comes to that gym, newbie, professional, XYZ, can expect a minimum of courtesy. That could have been super easily and quickly handled. Room for communication and social skills improvement here 😉
Otherwise, huge expensive gym, quite central in Berlin, good facilities and the participants/students are super nice.
Ah, and you guys need more lockers 😉
PS: USC works very well in other MMA locations where I have been, I am wondering if it’s just a choice/policy of the owner of the place and, again, that is fine, I guess it is a business decision at the end and I wish you all the best 🙂

I am a BJJ white belt from Australia who dropped in for a roll while in Berlin for a short time. Ended up going to some night classes (back to back).
Staff were easy to talk to and welcoming.
I felt very safe and comfortable.
Coaches were easy to understand and gave great advice.
Gym is clean and change rooms are good!
Classes were in English and rolls were solid! My classes were with Peter and Felipe and I was welcomed to the club by Robert and Michelle (excellent service!).
Thanks for the warm welcome and happy rolling

The reception is absolutely friendly and helpful! Every process feels refined and like they know what you need before you know it. The coaches I’ve met so far are also professional and friendly. I recommend! But be aware that to start you have to be ready to wait till they have free spot. But even in this case they have options for you to start asap.

I went for a class and an open mat. Very good coach, i had the pleasure to take the class of Felip. people are super friendly. The gym is really big. If you’re looking for a gym to go while in Berlin look no further.

Next Level. Ive been to many places in the world and i never saw a location like this. In the old facility they already had the best coaches in town but to be honest it was too full and small. But this new location is surreal! It has absolutely everything!

The overall experience in this shop was beyond great! Super friendly, professional consultation, very good understanding of which equipments would be the best depending on your level.
Last but not least, you can try things on and feel whether the equipments / clothes are comfy enough when doing sports. I highly recommend visiting and buying from this shop instead of ordering online.

I would rate 6 stars if I could. Small shop but has everything that you need. The personal is… incredible: very interested in the client and in martial arts. Super.

The owner is a gentleman and I had a very pleasant conversation. The place is small but well furnished nonetheless. This time I needed (and found) Thai oil but I will definitely go back next time to check out other items.
Giuseppe Lonetto

Very nice salesperson. Although there is a warning about no refunds he understood my case and saw that the size wasn’t right and refunded me without making a fuss.
Lala Espiña

I do judo and brazilian jiu-jitsu. I came to this store hoping to find an adidas kimono. I went in, and there was a huge selection of fighting clothes (from karate to muay thai). The man who served me helped me a lot with the choice of a kimono and a belt, helped me choose a bandage for my leg and even showed me how to “brew” a mouth guard correctly. I will definitely come here again.

Mewis Dojo martial arts school offers an exceptional environment for learning and personal development. The friendly atmosphere and skilled instructors create a welcoming space where both children and adults can thrive. Students report increased confidence and fitness levels, making it a perfect choice for anyone looking to enhance their physical and mental well-being.
One of the standout features of Mewis Dojo is its commitment to fostering a sense of community among students. Participants appreciate the supportive staff who go out of their way to ensure everyone feels included and empowered. Overall, this dojo is not just a place to learn martial arts; it is a space where individuals can grow and connect.
Customer Reviews
I wanted to share my concerns regarding the club’s teaching methods and customer service. Unfortunately, the teaching lacks structure, and even after six months of attendance, the instructor still doesn’t seem to know the children’s names. Additionally, the instructor is late to about 80% of the classes, often without any form of apology—even if parents and children are left waiting in poor weather conditions.
Communication is also an issue, especially when it comes to addressing customer service concerns. We are often directed to contact the “back office,” which has been equally unhelpful.
Overall, it feels like the club is more interested in taking payments than providing a valuable experience for the children.
Herbie Kaur

Just after one month of mixed martial arts exercises in Mewis Dojo my life changed: i feel happier and alive. I became more confident, stronger and met some amazing people! Very friendly atmosphere and professional staff make me to come there almost everyday. Even though the course is in german they are trying to translate everything to me so i don’t feel like an outcast. Strongly reccommended!

If you think about what BJJ/grappling stands for, you find that at this DOJO. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly to everybody, and super focussed on skill.
I found this place during my holiday, and went to the open mat on Saturday. I had two hour of fun and good social contact. The next time I visit Berlin, I’ll definitely join a class there.

Was visiting Berlin for a few days and saw bjjdojo does drop on sessions and open mats so went for a morning gi fundamental session, the coach and everybody were very nice and welcoming, and all were responsible training partners (easily one of the nicest gyms I’ve visited), mat space and changing room were spotlessly clean, I am definitely gonna visit again in the future when I’m in Berlin again!!!

Great training! Great Professors, coaches, and training partners! Movement and drill classes are extremely helpful. The dojo is always kept clean and everyone is friendly helpful, and respectful. Here I get to learn basics of body movements and applying them in a safe and encouraging environment. In addition, the yoga classes offered here are fantastic too! Drop by in and you will not regret it!

Prior to joining DOJO, I had no BJJ experience–which made it difficult to define and understand what it was I was looking for. Lucky for me, the trial class at DOJO blew me away! I felt extremely comfortable, and BJJ finally felt approachable.
DOJO provides a welcoming, inclusive environment offering top notch wisdom from their trainers. The talented trainers are extremely motivating and encouraging. The owner and head coach, Rodrigo is awesome! His gym reflects his teaching style = clean, simple and efficient. Highly recommend!

Contract scammers. Make sure that your “limited” contract is actually ended and not auto prolonged.
Because if it is not, they will appear after 3 months of silence (not even trying to bill you) with a lawyers and a hefty bill.

Came to train here summer of 2024. Easily the best BJJ gym I’ve ever been to, and what I consider to be a benchmark on what a great BJJ gym should be. Very friendly staff, amazing atmosphere and community, and really good quality of teaching. Almost makes me wish I stayed in Berlin so I can keep training here
Taiga

Our kids were there for a year, and I can recommend BJJ Akademie highly. It’s a great supportive learning environment. Robert is highly skilled and takes time with the kids to show them techniques, and then they are able to put them into practice on the others at the end of each day’s session. There are various tournaments throughout the year that the children are encouraged to join. Our kids loved it!
Nyall Engfield

my 12yr old son has been attending for a few months now & its been quite the revelation.
pros: friendly trainers & great environment – they give that feeling of passion for what they do and the kids feel it and benefit from it… up to 3 of them train with the kids at the same time and they take care to get everyone involved. kids spar with one another and theres always an emphasis on sportsmanship
cons – the gym has limited space (trade off for a great location i suppose) and it does get stuffy on hot days. few sign-up options (in my son’s age group it was 3x week). contract initially lasts 12 months, after which it can be cancelled any time.
recommended for anyone thinking of trying a martial art.
Francesco Piaz

Really amazing academy! Was visiting Berlin for work and felt right at home, learned some cool things at the nogi class. Would definitely come back!
Howard DaCosta

The gym has a very positive vibe with friendly and patient instructors. Currently I have 2 kids going there who have learned great techniques in a short amount of time and love it. Highly recommended.
Update: After 6 months here I can only say how amazing this place is. Instructors have been amazing with the kids through their ups and downs during their BJJ journey. If you are looking for a BJJ gym ffor both kids and adults, this is it.
