Customer Reviews

I was particularly excited to try their pistachio croissant, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The balance of flavors was off. The cream overpowered the taste of pistachio, which was surprisingly soft and lacked the distinct nutty flavor I was hoping for. It felt more like I was eating a cream-filled croissant rather than enjoying the rich taste of pistachio.
I also tried the pistachio citron tart, and while the tart was well-made, the lemon flavor was overwhelmingly dominant, to the point where the pistachio was nearly undetectable. It was disappointing, especially since I was expecting a more balanced flavor profile where both the lemon and pistachio could shine.
The staff, unfortunately, didn’t add much to the experience. They weren’t particularly welcoming or smiling, which affected the overall atmosphere of the bakery. A friendly and warm service could have made up for some of the shortcomings in the food, but that wasn’t the case here.
On a positive note, the coffee was good—nothing exceptional, but it met the standard of what you’d expect from a bakery like this. It was a solid cup of coffee, but not something that would make me return specifically for it.
Overall, FREA Bakery has potential, but the pastries need better flavor balance, and the staff could be more engaging to create a more enjoyable experience.

Tried the hazelnut croissant. It was okay to be honest, the croissant itself was not buttery as you would expect.
Service was alright, nothing wrong with it, however, you’re not met with a smile and almost feel like you’re bothering them for being there.
Coffee was excellent! Tasty and well made.

Pleasant Morning Spot, but Pastry Disappointment
This charming cafe offers a cozy atmosphere perfect for a leisurely morning coffee. Unfortunately, my pastry choices fell short. The pistachio tart was visually appealing, but the citron base overpowered the subtle pistachio flavor, leaving me underwhelmed. The pistachio croissant was standard, and I've encountered better options in Berlin. While the ambiance was enjoyable, the pastries didn't live up to my expectations.

Unfortunately I didn’t check the reviews before returning to frea bakery. Sadly it’s not fully vegan anymore.
The Kardamom Bun was lovely as usual but the rest left us truly disappointed. Maybe spoiled of the great concept and food in the past, I now perceive it not special anymore - it’s just a average breakfast place. The vegan choices left on the menu could not be more basic. Avocado toast, mushroom toast and granola.
Moving from vegan to veggie clearly displays no ethics.

This hipster breakfast spot is a haven for pastry and coffee lovers. Their delectable offerings, including the Spandauer, are simply divine. The inviting ambiance and relaxed atmosphere create a pleasant dining experience. However, the counter service and buzzer system might give off a slight fast-food vibe, which could be a minor drawback for some.
