Vabali Spa – A Unique Experience in Berlin

Vabali Spa offers a truly distinctive experience, perfect for unwinding after a long day, especially during Berlin’s cold winters. Conveniently located near Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station), this spa provides a peaceful, digital-detox environment where everyone feels equal, regardless of gender, age, body type, or appearance. I also appreciate the effort they’ve made to translate key explanations for non-German speakers, making it accessible for everyone.

The Experience

The spa spans two floors, with the upper floor featuring a sound bath experience that’s not to be missed. Upon arrival, grab a map to get a sense of the layout—it’s almost like you need a tour guide to navigate all the options (but in a fun way!).

Tips for First-Time Visitors

1. Book in Advance: Reservations are essential to guarantee entry and avoid long queues. Advance payments of less than €5 secure your spot, and you’ll have a 20-minute window for check-in.
2. Plan Ahead: On your first visit, consider using a pencil and paper to organize your time. While relaxing and spontaneity are the goals, the sheer number of free activities and ceremonies can feel overwhelming.
3. Pay-as-You-Go: Your total cost will depend on how long you stay, so keep track of your time. Some ceremonies and experiences may require an additional fee.
4. Timing: Make your reservation at least a day or two in advance if you plan to arrive after 10 AM.

Surprises

For the best experience, skip this section if you want everything to feel new.
• Different Sauna Experiences: Vabali offers a variety of sauna experiences, each with its unique atmosphere and rituals. Exploring them all is part of the fun!
• Water Mattress Nap: After lunch, you can nap on a water mattress with a cozy blanket, which is incredibly relaxing and recharges you for the rest of your stay.

Additional Notes

• Massage Services: While relaxing, the massages are on the pricier side. Consider checking the service menu to see what suits your preferences and budget.
• Food and Beverages: The spa offers a variety of options. Some dishes, like the ginger shot and avocado toast, stood out as highlights, but others might vary based on personal taste.

Vabali is not just a spa—it’s a mini retreat from the hustle and bustle of Berlin. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it’s worth a visit for its serene atmosphere and thoughtfully designed experiences.

the place deserves 5 stars but for the price you pay and what you get it’s a 4.

a reservation is almost essential, otherwise you can wait hours before getting inside. the reservation per person is €3.50, which you do not get back at the end is not counted as a credit towards the final price.

very nice place to relax! the atmosphere is great, it’s really nice! but for the price of the ticket you practically do not get much, for example you need to pay extra for a towel and bathrobe, which you need if you want to access the restaurant and the room with a fireplace. I was also confused that there was no folder/brochure in English. the temperature of the pools is quite cold, we could have at least 1 larger pool with a higher temperature. there are also many corners and facilities for resting – which are wonderful, as well as facilities for drinking drinks, but considering the number of pools and saunas, I think there are too many (instead, they should make another bigger warm pool). I missed some corners where you can prepare free tea and take an apple. (at least this is available in all the more expensive spas in Slovenia). loved the separate saunas for women and the sound room with the waterbeds!

Such a dreamy place. Felt like being in a different world for a moment. Everyone seems relaxed and balanced. It’s so calm there. They have such great saunas, a big pool, cold warm bath, many water beds, a cozy fire place, lots of spaces to just relax and a beautiful garden with more pools and saunas. My personal surprise was the restaurant. The food is just amazing. They have lots of vegan options and nice drinks. Definitely gonna go there again.

As loyal, regular customers of this spa, my husband and I were truly looking forward to participating in the sound bath experience, which is held several times a day in a designated room. We attended the 2 pm session, expecting the usual serene and restorative ambiance this spa is known for. Instead, we were met with disorganization, frustration, and a shocking lack of professionalism that left us feeling humiliated and deeply disappointed. 🙁

Upon arriving more than 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony, we found a group of people standing at the main entrance. Familiar with the facility, I knew there were two other entrances to the room, so we opted to wait by one of these alternate doors outside – also because we were really warm from a previous sauna session. There, we encountered another customer who mentioned she’d been asked to leave while the room was being prepared, so we all waited patiently together.

Despite being visible to the staff inside who were preparing the room for a full 30 minutes, no one approached us to inform us that this door was restricted, or that entry would only be allowed from a single designated entrance. Instead, we stood waiting in good faith, assuming we were following the correct procedure. Just minutes before the session was set to start, an employee finally approached and, without apology, informed us we couldn’t enter from that door.

By this time, of course, the main entrance was already crowded (compared to the handful of people we encountered 20 minutes before) and there was no room left for us. What followed was an uncomfortable, escalating argument with the employee, who then brought the therapist into the discussion. Both refused to allow us access to the ceremony, only to eventually bring in the manager. The manager insisted there was a sign indicating the main entrance as the only permitted entry, which we did not see due to the people blocking the entrance. Meanwhile, no such signage existed at the doors where we’d been waiting, nor were these doors locked, leaving us with no indication that they couldn’t be used. Plus the other two customers waiting at this door left us with no clue that this was not allowed.

After a protracted, super uncomfortable discussion, management eventually made an “exception” and allowed us entry. But the “privilege” came with a condition: we were not permitted to use any of the provided beds and were instructed to lie on the floor. This stipulation felt more like a punishment than a resolution. Rather than being welcomed, we were made to feel unwelcome and demeaned, as though we were being disciplined for an error in judgment that could have easily been prevented with a single clear sign or simple instruction when we initially arrived. Again it needs to be mentioned that we waited for more than 20 minutes, and had we known about the restricted doors, we would have easily become access to two of the beds, only that we were waiting in front of the “wrong” door.

The experience itself was overshadowed by this distressing encounter, and we left feeling humiliated and unappreciated. It was deeply disappointing, particularly as customers who have come here often, and invest quite some money into enjoying this spa’s services.

The lack of clear communication, the failure of staff to notify waiting customers, and the unprofessional and humiliating approach from management were profoundly disheartening. Not only did we leave feeling as though we’d been treated as an inconvenience, but the experience was costly, and frankly, we expected a far higher standard of service from a spa of this reputation.

We sincerely hope management reconsiders its approach to customer service. I can think of many ways of organizing this experience in a better way. Basic respect and proactive communication should not be optional; they are foundational to any quality service experience.

Interesting experience at the ‘float with lights’. Was very relaxing in the pool in the warm water with the floats and the relaxing techno music.
As someone who isn’t too confident in her own skin I was a little uncomfortable with people walking around without swimwear on even outside the sauna textile free zones but it was an experience for sure!

I had a wonderful experience at Liquidrom! I was delighted to find out that, with my Urban Sports Club membership, I could enjoy 2 hours for free, and each additional half-hour was only €2.50—a great deal for such a relaxing escape.

The warmth of the water in the pools and jacuzzi really stood out to me, especially since it’s rare to find such perfect temperatures in Europe. It was a pleasant surprise!

The sauna experience was excellent, too. We loved the rituals and peelings, which added an extra layer of relaxation.

We also treated ourselves to some wine, which, while on the pricier side, was worth it for the nice service. Overall, Liquidrom offered a fantastic spa evening, definitely coming again!

No photos are allowed, so I took a picture off the website:) but trust me, it looks exactly like this!

This is a fun place with a cool theme. If you are from the west, be prepared for full nudity. However no one was inappropriate. There is only one changing room and genders are not separate. There are some private changing rooms if you wish. There are some hair dryers outside the changing room. You should buy a ticket and reserve a time in advance. Once there you get a bracelet that records your purchases so you can pay on check out.

Amazing sauna and baths. I had been out for a late night on Saturday and this was the perfect place to relax on a Sunday. The venue was full and people from all over the world, different ages, mostly couples. The pools are clothed but the sauna is naked. Some people continue to be naked lounging around the pool area. There is nothing sexual about the experience and like most parts of Europe, being naked is accepted and people are body positive. The sauna master sessions on the hour are great if you can handle the heat. The venue is very clean and well maintained. I will go back.

Amazing place in Berlin. Very relaxing, excellent facilities with friendly staff. Loved that fact that no phones are allowed to ensure privacy. Consists of sea salt quiet dome area, artist installations. outdoor heated jacuzzi, naked sauna area with cold water showers. A bar serving a vast collection of drinks and food. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

I could not think of a finer choice to stay in Berlin. The room was cozy, yet stylish. It’s a perfect combination of comfort and elegance, without being pretentious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool and sauna were a nice treat. The location is hard to beat, on a lovely street in a nice neighborhood, with a number of trams and trains nearby. I’d be very happy to stay here again.

I love this hotel and go as often as I can. It’s in a really interesting neighbourhood, near good independent shops and places to eat. It’s within easy walking distance of the U-Bahn, or a tram. It’s full of history. The pool is brilliant and the sauna is good too. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great. But it’s rooms that are the icing on the cake, the Premium rooms are really good and amazing value. It’s not in the centre of Berlin but it’s well worth making the effort; it’s really good.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel, It’s in a great area of town, good sized rooms, good shower and great bar. However, were really disappointed that the pool was closed the whole time we were there due to a corporate function. The Pool policy is very unfair to guests who book well in advance and pool availability is only posted on their website two weeks ahead of time and needless to say it is not front of mind to go and check it. It is a pretty disingenuous policy. I believe all guests should be notified if the pool is going to be closed in advance of their stay. We booked in April and, without doubt, this major corporate event would have been booked into the the system at least 3 months before. I believe we should have been notified and given the choice to stay or go. As the pool and spa were a major reason for choosing the hotel, we were very disappointed. I recommend the hotel considers the hotel guests a little more in future.

Very nice hotel – stayed here to watch our daughter run Berlin marathon. Near to tram and train and good restaurants, decent size room – it fit a rollaway bed for our other daughter for one night. Pool was very nice – although we thought it would be heated, not sure what temp it was, but it was not warm!

Great location but v expensive for v basic facilities otherwise (no aircon, €20+ for croissant & coffee in morning etc). We arrived on one of hottest days of year and were put in a room at the top of ‘the tower’ (lots of stairs, no lift) and a small (ineffective) fan. When we complained we were basically told it was on us and that they couldn’t do any better. They did bring a second fan but we couldn’t use this, and sleep at the same time, due to the noise. Bar staff were really nice but, overall, doesn’t make up for the near €900 bill for 4-night stay. Think twice before booking this one.

Holmes Place, Potsdamer Platz – Great Gym with Excellent Facilities

Holmes Place at Potsdamer Platz is a clean and well-maintained gym with a nice entrance hall, pool, and sauna area. It’s generally not too crowded, making it a great place to work out, especially during the day. While it can get busier in the evenings, it’s still manageable. A nice bonus is the women-only sauna every Thursday from 5 p.m. – perfect for those who prefer a more private space.

I’ve been going to the Promenade gym in the young Potsdamer Platz for several months now. And I was able to get a pretty clear idea of the whole environment. And after having lived and therefore trained in various European countries I can say that my instinct for the best gyms is increasingly refined. This was also the case for the wonderful German capital. They deserve five stars, impeccable installations, enviable cleanliness for the amount of people who are there at the busiest times, and a staff that really makes the difference. What’s more, being greeted by the smile of Ayo, until some time ago of Anna, for example, is always a pleasure as well as a good start for a good workout, then you go up the stairs, and you find yourself on the upper floor (closer to the heaven) exceptional personal trainers first and foremost for their human warmth, such as Raj, or Wiel, it is always a pleasure to hear their tips or simply exchange a sincere smile and an authentic handshake, then of course my heart like mine impetus is softened by the peace and composure of the wise (as well as beautiful) Tanja, who with her Namasté, makes it easy for me to bow… The beauty of the best German youth is represented by the Youth: Max with his savoir faire almost mediterráneo, a true Host… And from Elías with his composed politeness typical of this part of the world. I’m certainly forgetting someone and I’m sorry for this and they are certainly also part of such an ideal environment for those looking for a bit of well-being and excellent physical shape. Yes, that’s right because, if all gyms can have a weight room, as well as a sauna and swimming pool, the service as well as the care of the guests is what makes the difference, the human warmth, the others are purely objects. I am proud to be a member of Holmes Place, and this is my testimony. As a hospitality professional for over 25 years, I speak with full knowledge of the facts.. It’s supposed to be a premium gym, but it’s overcrowded every day. The place smells terrible, classes are fully booked. Machines are packed with UrbanClub members who pay half the price and still enjoy full access to the facilities, including other gyms. Frankly, I don’t think any of your current members will want to renew their contracts.

Additional information: To warn others. For anyone considering joining this gym, think twice. The membership is 2 years. They add a €29.90 “maintenance fee” every six months without explaining this when you sign the contract. A week after I joined, they dropped the membership price by half and there is nothing to do with you cuz you’ve already signed the contract. A friend of mine even had to take legal action against Holmes Place for the same issue. Maybe the business is tough but you can’t do business like that.

It is a good place. I go there for group classes- love body pump
Unpleasant thing is that some guests come to the training room with their outdoor shoes and jacket… that really makes me upset. And no one takes care about that.

There is a good big sauna, but there is no really a nice comfortable space where you can sit and relax after it. It is more quicky stile.

I’ve been going to this gym for a few months now and it’s definitely become my favorite place to work out. The facilities are top-notch and always clean, which is a huge plus for me. I particularly enjoy the sauna and jacuzzi after a good workout – it’s the perfect way to unwind and relax. The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to help out if I have any questions or concerns. One thing I love about this gym is that the best time to visit is in the morning – it’s not too crowded and I can always get a good workout in without feeling like I’m fighting for space. Overall, I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean, well-equipped facility with a great staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

A few months ago, I tried to visit this Holmes Place location. Despite having a membership and a valid card, my card didn’t open the door. I explained to the staff that I had both the card and a contract, but I was still denied entry.

The entrance was crowded with Urban Sports members, and the experience was extremely disappointing. I will not be renewing my membership and cannot recommend this place to anyone. The service you receive does not match the price you pay, and the staff are highly unprofessional.

That said, I’ve had good experiences at other Holmes Place locations, but unfortunately, this one falls far below expectations.

Quality equipment. Sauna

But can get packed at peak hours.

Also, sometimes the towel smell horribly. Please make sure you clean the towels. I was disgusted to wipe myself with the body towel provided several times.

Edit: Update your schedule on the app! I wanted to work out on Christmas and it was closed. The app said it would be open.

Absolutely do not recommend if you’re looking for the full hamam experience. I felt dirtier coming out than I did going in. The scrub, that lasted 5min, was useless, the glove (probably used on all the person’s guests) was soft and the lady put no effort. When asking why there was no dead skin coming out, I was informed it’s because of my body…Scrubbing at home leads to a cleaner skin. The soap was put on the body using a reusable towel. I booked the 3hour package for 59€. Left after 1:30 hours. The welcome was nice. Only the small steam room was open.

Hello! I want to leave my review about the Sultan sauna. unfortunately I can’t say anything positive about this place. I paid 200 euros for my super package and was very upset by the price and quality does not match the requested price. And so what is included in the package for 199 € (.
entrance 5 hours
Body scrub and soap
80 min massage
Face and hand care) And so the Hamam does not use tea tree essential oils to disinfect the vapors that you breathe while inside the Hamam. which does not meet the standards of disinfection and hyena of this room, which is not good for your lungs! then I went to a scrub where they scrubbed my body with non-personal reusable gloves, then washed my body with a reusable washcloth with soapy water, after which it was all washed off with water. the table on which you lie is not covered with a disposable diaper and the pillow on which you lie too. and when the remnants of the skin are washed off you with water, you cannot understand whether it is yours or a previous client. In general, for cleanliness in this institution, you can put 0. Also, during the procedure, the body is not scrubbed with a scrub and after that no cream or lotion is applied to moisturize the skin, then I was sent to an alleged beautician, the girl in charge of the facial procedure. the first thing I noticed was that the girl was not wearing disposable gloves to work with her face. she applied some kind of cleanser and with the help of Ararat with a rotating brush washed my face. then leaked tonic and applied something like a mask. I don’t understand why not buy an ultrasonic cleaning device, it is harmless and suitable for any skin type. The Ararat that they used is not suitable for the skin, if there is a rash, they injured the skin more and provoked more rashes. Then there was a procedure, they applied cream on the hands and a light massage ‍♀️ that’s all the care !!! after which I went for a massage. Again, the expectation was not justified. the absence of meditative music, aroma sticks, does not create comfort while being in the room. regular oil is used. It is not possible to choose which massage you prefer sports or relaxing or anti-cellulite. there are no varieties of body oils, such as aloe, coconut oil or with the addition of different flavors. I would recommend doing massage in a Thai salon with professional masseuses who have an education. In general, to be honest, I’m upset and I’m sorry that I spent this money in vain. I travel a lot and I have something to compare. Europe rests both in the quality of the Beauty industry and in the service. Who faced will understand

Some save guards (but not all, there are nice guys there as well) are extremely rude and forbid things referencing rules that in reality doesn’t not exist. They put my girlfriend out of the swimming pool because of using swimming equipment and her emotional reaction to prohibition. They claimed it was a rule on a website for it, but when we checked we discovered they lied. I hate liers , if you want to forbid something based on your opinion tell it directly and do not fake existance of rules for this!

In the woke Neukölln bad you don’t get discriminated for being different but you will be rejected as a man

Men are not allowed to swim on Monday, why is man being discriminated against, and why is that? Such a woke swimming stadium

You can come swim around (breaststroke) here as a tourist in two beautiful pools or relax on a pool chair or sauna. Also bring your own towel, flip flops (optional), body wash,
Shampoo, and an extra bag for your wet swimwear. Hair dryers and lockers are available for a few coins.

It’s really beautiful historical swimming pool, but it’s better not to go there. I visited this place on Wednesday evening and a morning after I started having health problems escalated into serious ear infections with herpes. Even though the swimming pool looks clean, there is a huge concentration of people. Better safe your time and health and do something else. I regret my decision of going there.

Great hotel that brings together a large spa facility, gym and pool, and a two-floor wellness area under a friendly service. The 25-meter long pool is a huge plus. They also offered me towels right next to the reception. You can enjoy a sunbathe in the large terrace area and find snacks at the bistro until midnight. Relaxing spacious rooms. Very central location.

The rooms and decor take good pictures but are worn… Lots of space, but the layouts are… creative. And it’s odd to have to go thru a turnstile to get to your hotel room, no? I get that it’s typically a gym/spa… But… Ya. My parents said they slept well enough, but wouldn’t recommend it for longer stays.

I ended up really enjoying my stay here thanks to the excellent facilities. I got off on the wrong foot with this hotel because of the sauna concept of the rooms, the AC situation can be quite frustrating until you ask them to bring a big fan. Once I figured out how to deal with the heat of the rooms – I really enjoyed the pool, and discovering the various relaxation rooms in the section below the roof deck. Just a few minutes in these rooms was all I needed to feel maximum relaxation. The pool really does seem like it could be the best in town.

In the few days of our stay, my child learned to swim in there during family hours – so I’m really grateful.

Definitely you get the feeling like the hotel was an afterthought as the high end health club business seems to be their main focus.

My experience was that staff could be more welcoming and attentive to the hotel guests; be warned that this building has poor accessibility – the lobby is up quite a steep set of steps – and I constantly had to get the attention of staff and I felt like I was annoying them when I had to ask for help with my son’s pushchair or open the accessibility gate. This was in stark contrast where at other hotels there’s always a concierge who can’t wait to help you…

Food and transport options are okay, I recommend using scooters and there’s a really good Uzbek restaurant round the corner from the hotel that I recommend.

I don’t enjoy this gym at all. Maybe it was cool 20years ago.
Only old people 70+ are coming here so if you are a young person I don’t recommend.
Staff is confused all the time.
Hammam is terrible, as well as all spa only with guys starring at you.

Oh and everywhere is terribly dirty!!
Ghey have good massages though.

We went there to enjoy the sauna. A very old looking place, that wasn’t renovated a long time. The saunas were ok though, but they are separated from the swimming area. You have to pass the whole corridor at the entrance to switch between the swimming pool and sauna, this was uncomfortable

Unfriently and uncooperative staff (but thats common in governmental institutions like this).
The ambiente is a mixture of prison and a 60’s mental house.
Water yellow in some areas, zero privacy in the changing rooms, expensive and terrible sauna.
The water is really cold with no whirlpools or similar in the main area.
In general this place feels like some oppressive comunist institution. They need some commercial spirit (a cooperation with snapchat or something) to make this place nice and fun. At the moment its unusable and horrific.

Users engage in a ritual of heat exposure followed by cool-down periods, promoting relaxation and enhancing circulation.

    Steam Bath

Steam baths, or steam rooms, are another popular offering in Berlin's saunas. These rooms operate at lower temperatures, usually between 40°C to 50°C, and maintain high humidity levels. The warm, moist air provides numerous health benefits, including improved skin condition and respiratory relief.

    Infrared Sauna

Infrared saunas utilize infrared heaters to emit light waves that heat the body directly rather than heating the air around it. This form of sauna operates at lower temperatures, typically around 50°C to 60°C, and is especially popular among those seeking a milder experience while still achieving detoxification and muscle relaxation.

    Wellness Treatments

Many saunas in Berlin also offer a range of wellness treatments such as massages, body scrubs, and facials. These treatments are designed to enhance relaxation and overall well-being, often utilizing natural products to nourish the skin and body while complementing the sauna experience.

    Sauna Events and Rituals

Saunas often host special events and rituals that create unique communal experiences. These can include Aufguss (sauna infusion) sessions where aromatic oils are poured over heated stones, producing aromatic steam while enhancing the sauna’s therapeutic effects. Participants often enjoy the added ambiance, such as music or themed sessions.

    Relaxation Areas

After experiencing the heat, many saunas provide relaxation areas where guests can unwind. These areas may feature comfortable loungers, tranquil music, and calming decor, allowing individuals to enjoy a moment of peace and reflect on their sauna experience while sipping herbal teas or refreshments.
